Narangi Nasha is an amazing dessert and is one of my favorite ones! I had this ice cream at one of our local Indian restaurant and have been in love with it since then! Narangi Nasha is actually Mango ice cream filled in Orange shells which are cut into slices. The mango ice cream is so delicious and it also has a slight hint of orange which gives a unique taste to the ice cream!
Using a heavy bottom pot, boil heavy cream and milk.
Once it comes to a boil reduce the heat to medium and add sugar.
Keep boiling the milk till it reduces to half of the original quantity. Stir occasionally. This will around 15-20 minutes.
Cool this mixture to room temperature.
Then add the mango purée and mix everything.
Cut orange from the top.
Then using a spoon and a knife remove the orange pulp and make a clean shell.
Fill the prepared mango mixture into these orange bowls.
Cover with the top of the orange.
Freeze these oranges for 6-8 hours inside a freezer.
Cut into slices and serve!
1. You can totally skip the orange part and simply freeze the ice cream in a freezer safe box and enjoy.
2. Do not reduce the milk/cream mixture to more than half as we don’t want it to have a Kulfi texture.
