Sunday afternoon lunch is all sorted with this famous Maharashtrian dish Misal Pav! Spicy and flavorful moth beans curry topped with farsan, chopped onions and fresh cilantro. Serve with a side of buns!
Dry roast coconut in a pan till it is reddish in color. Transfer to a mixing jar.
To the same pan add 1/2 tbsp oil, chopped onions and cook till it is soft. Then add tomatoes and cook for 2 more minutes.
Transfer this mixture to a mixing jar and grind it to a fine paste.
Take 1.5 tbsp of oil, add ginger garlic paste and cook for 30 seconds.
Then add the prepared paste and cook for 3-4 minutes.
Now add red chili powder, goda masala and coriander powder, salt to taste. Mix everything and cook till masala releases oil.
Add boiled moth beans and 3-4 cups of water. Let it boil for 7-8 minutes and misal is ready.
Serving: In a serving plate add the prepared misal , farsan, finely chopped onions and cilantro. Eat along with pav.
1. Add turmeric powder and salt while boiling moth beans.
2. Pressure cook moth beans for only one whistle.
3. I have used less oil here, but feel free to add more oil.
