Starting my weekend with eating healthy! This recipe is made using urad dal which gives it a nice creamy texture. Though it is made with urad dal the taste is totally different than dal makhni, it is not greasy as it does not have heavy cream and is made with very little ghee. Try this flavorful comforting recipe made with simple ingredients easily found in the house and enjoy with roti, paratha or rice
Cook urad dal in a pressure cooker for 4-5 whistles.
In a pot add oil, cumin seeds and hing.
Once it crackles add onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
Then add ginger garlic paste and sauté again.
Next goes in some tomatoes, slit green chili, all dry spices and salt. Cook again for 2-3 minutes.
Lastly add cooked urad dal, cilantro and 1.5 cups of water. Cover and cook for 7-8 minutes.
