There is something incredibly satisfying about a warm bowl of dal fry! I make mine using toor dal and moong dal. Combination of herbs, spices and fresh ingredients makes this dish alive. Every house has their own method of making this simple recipe. This is my take on dal fry. Let me know how you make it in the comments below!
Boil both dal in a pressure cooker for 4-5 whistles.
Heat ghee in a pot, add cumin seeds and hing.
Once cumin seeds crackels add onions and ginger garlic paste. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
Then add tomatoes, all masalas and salt.
Add 2-3 tbsp water and cook till tomatoes become soft.
Lastly add the boiled dal, 1-2 cups of water. Simmer for few minutes on low.
Serve with rice and roti!
