Dal Pakwan is a classic Sindhi breakfast. Chana dal is served over crispy pakwan (flatbread/puris) drizzled with chutneys and topped with onions, cilantro and sev. Dal Pakwan is perfect for breakfast or brunch. It also works well as an appetizer for lunch or dinner.
Form a semi soft dough using both flours, salt, cumin seeds and 1 tsp oil.
Roll small pakwans and make cuts over it.
Deep fry on medium heat till crisp.
Pressure cook dal with salt for 3-4 whistles.
Make sure that dal is cooked but is not mashed completely.
Heat oil in a small pan, add hing, turmeric powder and red chili powder.
Pour this tempering over the cooked dal and cook the dal for 2-3 minutes. Add 2-3 tbsp of water if needed.
Take a Pakwan, top it with dal, chutneys, onions and sev. Serve and enjoy!
