Sambhar

One of my favorite meal is sambhar served with soft idlis and chutney. Sambhar is prepared differently across different regions in the South. I like Sambhar which has a good balance of heat and is slightly tangy. This is my mom’s recipe which she has been using for years. It is not the most authentic recipe but I have grown up eating this sambhar and I absolutely love!

Prep: 15 mins
Cook: 30 mins
Yields: 4-5 Servings

In a kadhi add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, turmeric.

Once the seeds crackle add all veggies and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

4.

Lastly add boiled dal, 2-3 cups of water and let the sambhar boil for good 15-20 minutes.

Sever with dosa, idli, wada and enjoy!
