Sunday afternoon lunch is all sorted with this famous Maharashtrian dish Misal Pav! Spicy and flavorful moth beans curry topped with farsan, chopped onions and fresh cilantro. Serve with a side of buns!

Prep: 5 mins
Cook: 45 mins
Yields: 5-6 Servings

Ingredients

Method

1.

Dry roast coconut in a pan till it is reddish in color. Transfer to a mixing jar.

2.

To the same pan add 1/2 tbsp oil, chopped onions and cook till it is soft. Then add tomatoes and cook for 2 more minutes.

3.

Transfer this mixture to a mixing jar and grind it to a fine paste.

4.

Take 1.5 tbsp of oil, add ginger garlic paste and cook for 30 seconds.

5.

Then add the prepared paste and cook for 3-4 minutes.

6.

Now add red chili powder, goda masala and coriander powder, salt to taste. Mix everything and cook till masala releases oil.

7.

Add boiled moth beans and 3-4 cups of water. Let it boil for 7-8 minutes and misal is ready.

8.

Serving: In a serving plate add the prepared misal , farsan, finely chopped onions and cilantro. Eat along with pav.

Notes

1. Add turmeric powder and salt while boiling moth beans.

2. Pressure cook moth beans for only one whistle.

3. I have used less oil here, but feel free to add more oil.
