Dal Khichdi

Khichdi is everybody’s favorite comfort food. But sometimes khichdi can become boring and monotonous. So bringing to you all today this tasty, flavorful masaledar khichdi. It has a nice tadka which takes the boring khichdi to another level! Making this recipe always takes me back to my college days. Our college canteen in Mumbai made this amazing khichdi. I still remember the taste and have made a copycat version. It has been my family favorite and one of the most comforting food. Dal khichdi tastes amazing with pickle and papad.

Cook: 20 mins
Yields: 3-4 Servings

Ingredients

Method

1.

In a pot heat ghee and oil, add cumin seeds, hing, turmeric powder and onions. Sauté till onions are soft.

2.

Then add tomatoes, boiled toor dal, all the spices, salt and ginger garlic green chili paste. Add 1/2 cup of water and let it boil for 2-3 minutes.

3.

Lastly add rice, cover and cook for couple more minutes. Serve hot with pickle and papad.
